How do we rise above the limiting beliefs we place on ourselves? By rising above I do not mean rising above our human state to a state of perfection, rather quite the opposite. What I mean by this, particularly for women, is rising above the need to please, a need for perfection, a need to over-apologize, the expectations of those around us, and allowing ourselves to be fully who we are even if it means meeting with disapproval from others.

This includes rising above a need to react, defend, explain, or feel responsible for the feelings of others. We can allow ourselves to listen, pause, reflect, and respond when others are not happy. We are responsible for our own thoughts, feelings, intentions and actions. We are responsible for knowing ourselves, speaking our truth, and stating our needs. We are not responsible for the way others react. As we begin to realize this, we begin to step into freedom. We also begin to take responsibility for our own security and safety, creating and protecting a safe space for us to be our unique selves.

I want to encourage women to rise above the restricting, constricting, stifling, and sometimes even abusive conditions they may be facing. I want to embolden you to take courageous steps towards freedom: the freedom to be you, the freedom to discover you, the freedom to make mistakes, the freedom to be completely human. I want to inspire you to show yourself all the love you might be seeking from others because when you do you open the door of self-compassion and compassion for others.
